Re: What Do I Charge?

I think we should all give recognition to RBS Remodeling for being such a good mentor and passing such hard-earned wisdom onto the younger generation.

Is this bull **** or what?
I live in South Dakota and i'm sure that does not matter.
I would like to talk to some one to just get a idea of what to charge for some things.
If any one can help? It would be much appreciated.
Read your contract......it will tell you what you signed up for and how much and when the next draw is..
Upon reading your post , it's best for you to get out of it as quickly as possible.

How can you sign a contract not knowing who , what , where , when and how?

....but I do have a picture. The local scabs say they will do it for 20.00, seems cheap to me but they don't have insurance. Oh, well, they'll never get around to it anyway as the wife's taking them to school

Thank you We tried our best to help out the OP. But I think for some reason he took our critiques and helpful advice the wrong way.

But their is a ray of hope in this thread we now know what kinds of vehicles Mahlere drives and this is very comforting to me

Re: What Do I Charge?

When you write a contract, you read it, when you sign a contract, you read it, if you can't read it or understand it, don't sign it! I do a lot of sub-contracting, you need a two tier level of charges, one for retail and one for wholesale. Now adays the rule of thumb is, pay no more than needed to get the job done. If I charged four hundred bucks to put in an exterior door, and you will do it for two hundred, I call you and pocket two hundred. It's whatever the market will bear, use caution as you can price yourself out of the market. After doing this for so long, I can tell you the pay rate has not gone up very much in the sub-contracting field, However, if you deal with the same people at least you can work and get paid without getting ripped off, unless you are using a new contact. It pays to do a little research before hiring on with a new guy or company.

Hey everybody in the know, knows Dodge makes the best trucks.

On the doors, I get $20 for single entries. No knobs, no unloading trucks, and if I get lucky they spread the doors. 3 doors an hour and Im ok. That if we had a good mex crew and they didnt fk it up to bad.

Dont do interior doors.

My Dodge sucks too, about a gallon every 19 miles,. Not bad for something that weighs 8,000 pounds and has about 400,000 miles on it.
I only have 2 doors, but its worth more than $40.

Re: What Do I Charge?

I'm proposing some major thread drift here, sorry but this thread was doomed at the title creation stage, c'est le vie.

Every time something breaks on my dodge it goes to the shop, gets fixed and comes back with something else broken. Yesterday it was the antilock brakes, you know the turn and brake at the same time deal or maybe neither, I went into the ditch for the first time in 20? years. Sure it was icy but WTF the tires are good, truck well maintained, maybe the driver left something to be desired but now I'm scared to take it down the road or to the shop lest something else goes wrong.

Sorry, I don't mean to dodge bash, my last truck was a Dodge and my plan is for a Sprinter sometime in the next two years but what a PITA.

Just venting, I'm done.

Might just be me, but out of the 78 posts I saw less than 10 that would actually be helpful at all. If I was the opener I would be PIST about what happened to this thread! Yes I understand that it is frustrating to get questions like this, but yall don't have to be so dam juvenile about it.

Yah but he started it So what type of truck do you drive? Oh thats right a Ford 250 that wants to be a 350 (Don't tell Rory but all I will buy is Dodge)

All kidding aside - I don't mind helping someone out (I assume my first post made it in your top possibly helpful 10 replies), but as I stated above he blew it going after another poster. I hope he's pissed at the right person which in this case is himself. If he can grow up - he just might make it
