My worker said the same thing about that saw, - - then thanked me for 're-vamping' it for him after it failed one-month-in . . .

Good luck, anyway . . .

Lifetime warranty or lifetime parts replacement. Two different birds, one flies, the other one walks.

Our Electrical subs all bought the Rigid 18V kits about 2 years ago and have had nothing but trouble out of them with the trigger switch. Rigid says you have to pull it back further and release it sometimes to get it to engage properly. That is the warranty fix. The last time I saw our fav elect sub on the job, he was sporting Milwaukee. "Mike, what happened to the Rigid Cordless?", I asked. "Trot line weight.", he replied.

I'm glad someone is liking the Rigid tools. They sure have the price advantage going for them.

Re: What About Miter Saws?

I can't speak for, or against any of the others from first hand exp. but I've had my 12" dewalt since 90 and have had absolutely no problems with it. It's been through many rough truck loadings/unloadings, a couple moves, and many many cuts. Not a slider.

I use the dewalt 10" and the hitachi 8 1/2 slide saw for all my trim work. All day everyday. No complaints.

A little 'delayed', but, - - I can't say much first-hand about either Rigid or Ryobi, - - and I personally won't buy DeWalt (for reasons other than their miter saws), - - but I feel the most 'accurate' SCMS is unquestionably the Makita, - - but running a close second to that is the Bosch.

Overall, - - I like the Bosch better, - - because of it's 'ease-of-use' (all-front) features . . .

Time is MONEY.

I've Had My Rigid 12" Compound Miter Saw For About 7 Years Now. Never Had Any Problems, Cuts Accurate Miters.
On Any Brand Your Going To Hear About Someone Having A Problem With That Particular Brand, It's According To Your Own Preference.

Just an interesting note, - - I just got this month's issue of Fine Woodworking magazine today, - - they have a review of 10" SCMS's by Andy Beasley and he seems to be in complete agreement with the analysis I've given here.

To paraphrase, (page 50, final paragraph) he says, - - the 'Bosch' was his favorite overall, - - he says he feels the Makita actually cuts marginally better, - - but doesn't handle nearly as well as the Bosch.

Re: What About Miter Saws?

Fine, I'm buying a Bosch, but only if it will cut as much as the 10" Makita will.

Tom'r are you using the 10" or the 12" SCMS?
