Huh? A knob here?

I think your modeling software is a bit off.

It's all good when they are happy.

How about when they say "this turned out much better than we ever expected"

That good too

What do you mean? Doesn't everybody's fridge or freezer have a knob up there?
Must be a California thing.

Guess my eyes are starting to go. Good thing I can still sell job.

Cabinet Vision.
It's integrated with the cnc. Once the drawing is approved I export the code to the machine.
It's expensive but worth it.

Ya know you can even put knobs at the top of a freezer panel. Hard to get that flexibility with the competition.

That's because they call it an "undocumented feature".

Let me get all techy on you.

That door is considered a base door. The knob is placed as a result of my defaults that I place on this job.

The door I had to" build " custom to match the interior doors then place an applied molding into the perimeter of the panels. All of which took my focus off the silly knob.

By simply selecting the opening I can get a pull down tab for the knobs/pulls. From there I can change anything I need as far as quantity and placement of said hardware.

In this case the best thing to do would be to import and place a dxf of a long pull on the left stile as I'm sure that is what will be done.

All these things take time and usually there is a full crew of electricians and plumbers waiting for shop drawings. As was with this job. So the focus is more about overall appearance and dead on accurate dimensions.

In this case I was struggling to please the HO's sense of design and fit all the appliances in a manner that pleased her. At the same time keep up with the progress of the job as I can't really draw until the frame is done.

I missed the knob, could have fixed it real easy. But the drawing got approved and the info got out in time.

Re: Which Way Would You Go?

That's OK, I usually don't even put knobs on my doors unless requested by the client. My program (eCabinet) requires you to place them separately and because they are drawn in 3D with many many small triangles they suck up a lot of computer processing time. So I just leave them off.

That's ok, let me take it a step further then.

That door is not connected directly to that cabinet.

The easiest way to build that cabinet is with an upper cabinet and extend the legs to the floor. So the program does not see that area as an opening and thus no option for a door.

I had to place a "sub assembly" on the upper cabinet. An "empty base cabinet" with the proper size so I could get my custom door where it was needed. The empty cabinet is just that, empty of all parts but still has all the characteristics needed to have parts show up in it or apply parts to it.

This program can do all of it, except send a warning message that there is a knob on a base door 82" AFF. But then again I'm sure someone could write a user created standard for that too.
