Seems like 3 out of 4 jobs are paint jobs these days. This one is one of the 3.

I knew I would unleash some opinions about this but I am surprised at the volume of them. It is very interesting to see the diversity of ideas. Seems like we can't go wrong or right.

I'll pass on the compliment.

I like to think we have a good team. It's a group effort. Takes a village ya know.

Re: Which Way Would You Go?

I believe the correct way to finish the bottom is to create recesses like the top section. two rectangles on the front and one on each side, using the same moldings as the top. just sayin....

This ended up being the way we went.

Owner loved the bolection molding and went with the cove after seeing a mock up.

Re: Which Way Would You Go?

Why did you even bother asking the other guys opinions if you are just going to go with mine

Looks Good Gus. Good choice.

You did. If I had know you were open to routing into the wood that would have been my suggestion. I figured it needed to be applied.

Re: Which Way Would You Go?

There are no rules Leo.
If it looks good it is good kinda thing.

Cabinetmaking is mostly a manufacturing job. There are times to let the creative self be heard. Those are the moments I enjoy more than any of the manufacturing. Design and ascetics will always hold my interest.

Taking deposit checks to the bank is tough to beat though.

Taking the final check on the completed job is usually a better feeling.

But there is something about the hunt and victory of finding the job, earning the respect and confidence of the owners, selling the job and producing the drawings, then walk out with $20,000 to get started.

What feels the best is when they are just as excited to give it to me. I love that they feel good enough about me to gladly hand over that kind of money. And I love taking care of it for them.

Just sayin, that is hard to beat.

Re: Which Way Would You Go?

I really hate the selling. But the finishing up of the project and standing back to let it all soak in. Then having the client stand next to you and tell you how much they love this and that I couldn't believe how you got this to flow into that and then they hand you the final check without you asking for it. Priceless.
