which way would you go?
Is there anyone out there that would like to share an opinion on this hood detail?
Silly question, I know. There are plenty of you with opinions.
we have the single bolection molding
Or the double 3/4 half round

3/4 half round..gives almost a frieze type look, which to me seems appropriate there. Gives the hood, at least to me, more of a structured look leading to a sense of strenth if you will....
...also the single bol. molding leaves more to be desired at the very bottom of the hood.

The second...The moulding at the bottom gives it some depth, the single moulding looks boring...

The 3/4 round, I like a clean look and the moulding just doesn't look balanced. The real question is what does the rest of the kitchen look like.

Double Bolection with a triple Lindy.
Seriously though, the bolection fits the look of the rest of the hood IMO.

I only have some progress pics I sent the client.
The crown is gonna have a large cove to it.
The island is shown here up on the bench. And there is an upper that is upside down

What would the bolection with 3/4 at the bottom look like?

Picture #1. But I would also do something with the bottom. Maybe take a 5/8" quarter round and plce it on the 3/4" edge under the hood.
I really don't like #2 at all
So it's unanimous #2 it is.....

I think a cove would look real purty.

Thanks for that.
Truth be told I haven't touched this job.
Other than sell it, draw it, get the code to the cnc, order everything, answer all the questions, make the owner feel confident, pump up the GC's image.
And run to the bank.
Wayne is a great cabinetmaker. I'm lucky to have him. I'll tell him you like his work.

I think hoods like that can get dressed up more than the rest of the kitchen... they are a centerpiece, like a fireplace mantle.
Here is a similar hood, but the bottom edge is not showing.
