Wanna See A $1300 Sheet Of Plywood?
This is a vanity with a Ebony paneled front.
I had it laid up 8X4. Toe skin matches and runs vertical. Gonna have a high gloss lacquer finish. Yes $1300 for the sheet. And I had to drive to Oakland to pick it up. Made it back alive, this time. ![]() And some other vanities that are in the shop right now ![]()

Absolutely beautiful Gus. Wow.
How many times did you lay that sheet out before you cut it? Scary! |

Re: Wanna See A $1300 Sheet Of Plywood?
Looks nice. I've got a plywood supplier near me that will take any substrate you want and put whatever veneer you want on it. Last expensive one I asked about was curly maple and they wanted $400 a sheet.
Good job. |

Very sharp looking work!
My grandfather was a cabinet maker and took great pride in quality work but I never saw him make anything along those lines. |

The back is a totally different look with this real straight grain Wenge. When I brought the sheet back I had it with the Wenge face up on the bench. Then it had to moved and I stood it up at the wall with the Wenge out. He went to cut it, had a couple cuts made and I happened to come out to the shop. Standing there talking about something else for a minute, asked in passing why he was cutting it upside down. He just about soiled his britches on the spot. He kept seeing it with the Wenge side out and assumed that was it. Never dawned on him that it didn't match the edge banding. ![]() Nothing but a thang. ![]() ![]() Yeah same here. It's laid up on 11/16" MDF |

Re: Wanna See A $1300 Sheet Of Plywood?
I'd say it's worth the price.
Very pretty! ![]() Does the edge banding match grain? I lived at 14th and Alice (near the post office) for a short time, probably wouldn't be as comfortable there now.

The supplier for this is a couple miles from there. It would be a great place to live if you are in the social chemistry business, or a massage therapist. ![]() Otherwise I'll keep my visits to a minimum |

The holes are there so we can reach in with a couple screws to fasten the finished toe skin that will butt to the back of the base. Heading off the area at the end. Hope that makes sence. But it all covers with base |
