Wall Panel Around Bullnose
So what is your tecnique for installing picture frame on wall paneling? do you install panel board first, what size, does it depend on how small of cap you can find? Or has any one ever had a dry wall guy float the wall(if the wall is textured) to get a smooth flat surface insted of installing all the paneling and useing a chair rail insted of cap....I've seen it done. It's just matters if thats what the client wants.
My BIG question is, is how do you wrap the bullnose w/the paneling? Do you have to rip your own 4' 22deg corners and rip the corners off them to sit flush with the wall panel? Seems like to much work. |

Re: Wall Panel Around Bullnose
9 times out of 10 here we just cut panels(picture frame) out of basecap and run chairrail at normal height. I call it judges panels. Walls are always smooth finished sheetrock so this gives the illusion of the panel if you will.

Re: Wall Panel Around Bullnose
If you can get away with it using a chair rail and just making picture frames out of base cap will be the easiest. If you have textured walls I would definitely have them smoothed. It ruins the effect that there is actually wood there instead of just painted drywall. Where I live in KY we really don't have textured walls but a lot of builders have started using bullnose drywall corners. They make a corner piece for the drywall that goes from bullnose to a regular 90 degree corner usually used to make it easier to install baseboards, if you put that at the top of your paneling, behind where the chair rail/top cap goes you could treat the bottom half of the wall as if it were a 90 degree corner and then it would go to bullnose above the paneling. Just a thought.
