Trimming Out Arch Windows ??

Im trimming out a housefull of arch windows in a remodel job. Do to sloppy header contruction and other issues, the wall thickness around these windows can vary as much as 3/8" . The sheetrock may be flush with the jamb at a corner or two and then the jamb may be as much as 3/8" shy at the opposite corner. Normally, I would just add to the jamb, but I can't do that since it varies so much. Also, Im not sure if I have a way to add an extension to the arch...but it also varies from one side to the other (flush to 3/8" shy). For lack of a better idea, I've scored the sheetrock in areas that are within 3/16" or so and cut the shreetrock out completely using the arch and casing as a templete in the worst areas. The trim is then embedded into the shreetrock in places. Looks fine looking straight on, but alot of extra work. Might be a better idea out there??

Re: Trimming Out Arch Windows ??

Most window companies offer matching ext jams, order the ext jams using the deepest measurement, then trim back from there to meet the sheetrock, and trim GMOD

Like Gene said -- get the pre-bent jamb extensions, and do whatever scribing you need to do.
