Trim Profiles

does any one know of a site where i can down load and print all the diferent styles of moldings and base board and crown? Im looking to put together a binder that i can take with me to a job to identify old pieces of trim so i can match them up with what ever work i do .... iv been looking and unfortuatly all i can find is supplyers that have all there molding profiles, but unfortunatly none of them are local for me, or this would be fine. Any help would be great thanks....

Re: Trim Profiles

Did you Google your local
lumber yards to see if they have
web sites?
Most of mine have "Design Books"
on line with their molding profiles
illustrated.

BTW no one knows where you are.
If they did, they might be able to help!

Re: Trim Profiles

Guess I'm glad I live in a progressive
big city, and not some back-east back-water
where there are no real lumber yards!
Here are just a couple of my locals.

Re: Trim Profiles

Heres one of my local suppliers. they have a pretty decent website and trim pages. If you click on each style it gives you a nice printable page.

Re: Trim Profiles

The older the house the tougher it will be to match profiles with stock mouldings. We use maily Koetter mouldings as well as Mouldings and Millwork. I've also started to run my own profiles for projects. Google mouldings and you should come up with a bunch of sites.

Re: Trim Profiles

welcome to the site. we do a lot in the watch hill to green hill area.we have found that it is pretty hard to find exact profiles on some of the older homes. sometimes it's easier and cheaper to rout individual pieces and build up the profiles, this is espescially true on the extierior trim, good luck with the Newport job, great area to get into,

Re: Trim Profiles

Try www.woodmastertools.com. I have one of their 4-In-1 Money Maker 18" planers/Molders/Shaper/Drum sander combos. They have a book from which you can order from them with 500+ profiles, all in ACTUAL size, so you can take a cut piece and match it EXACTLY. If not, then you can trace a cross-section on to standard Quad-rule graph paper, fax it to them and they can cut you a profile knife which will fit most standard shaping machines. If you don't have a shaper, you can email me and with the profile Name and Number and I can custom mill it for you. Also try this site:
www.JJWohlferts.com (I stole this link from a post by A.W.Smith!)
