Tall Cab Filler As Door To "Broom Closet"
Have a 36" wide frig space, but just a 33" frig. (may upgrade to larger frig. later). I offered to center the frig. with 1-1/2" fillers on each side or use a single 3" filler on a piano hinge on one side as access to a small "broom closet."
The owner wanted the "broom closet" option to use the space, rather than have symmetry. Note: This is a low budget kitchen retrofit/add-on. These jobs are getting more common. Removed one wall, enlarged the kitchen by a few feet... rather than a complete remodel or matching existing, just added a few new cabinets in complimentary colors. |

Nice fix and I am running into the same stuff. Low budget but work is work.
two questions 1- is that a fur down just off the picture on the right? 2- did you get my request from your other post about pics of any VW recent upgrades? |

Re: Tall Cab Filler As Door To "Broom Closet"
Good use of space, Bass. I have done something similar with the casing around a closet that I turned into a desk built in. I hinged the casing over plan bins for a gc's home office desk. little 3 1/4" cubbies stacked up from desk height to capitol. I wish I could find a pic.

Re: Tall Cab Filler As Door To "Broom Closet"
Thanks, The piano hinge allows the "door" to open all the way, flat against the face frame of the pantry cab (if the panty doors are open too). 3" is tight for reaching in... best to have slender forearms.

Here is a pic of the VW drawers open. I have not had time to do the ramp, etc. I plan to add a ramp on rollers/rails for my trailer... sometime. |

Re: Tall Cab Filler As Door To "Broom Closet"
This is the other item ("micro broom closet") that is being "prepared for publication" in the K&B issue of FHB.
This and the curved back vanity drawer should be in a "Great Ideas" feature. |
