Never had an angled nailer, but I must have a dozen guns from 15 gauge to 23 gauge and I like the straight nailer's just fine.

the angled nailers make it a bit easier to get into tight spaces

Re: Straight Or Angled, Which Is Better?
I use straight for 16 ga and angled for 15 ga. Occassionaly I wish I had an angled 16 ga for a particular task, but not enough to justify the higher price of the gun and nails. Also, the angled nails are not as readily available as strraight.

Angled
![]() oops, you said "and why" too.... I get many fewer nails that don't set properly with the angled nailer because it's rarely obstructed from being held at the proper location and nailing angle. Sometimes I go a whole house w/ never needing nailset w/ angled. www.rubycon.us Ruby Construction LLC Lancaster Kitchen Remodeling Lancaster Bathroom Remodeling Last edited by orson; 04-13-2008 at 10:14 PM. |

Re: Straight Or Angled, Which Is Better?
I have the DeWalt 18v angled trim nailer..15g I think... And it's one of the best tools I've ever owned. (I've actually owned two--the first was stolen.)
Zero maintenance, no oil... and a 6 point dialable depth adjustment. It'll drive a 2 1/2" angled senco nail (round headed) through 5/4 maple. It's a little fat on the end & a bit heavy but not having to jack with a hose is heaven.

Re: Straight Or Angled, Which Is Better?
angled because they cost more so they must be better right? :P seriously I find the angled guns got a little more a$$ to em than the straight nailers....wait that came out wrong.....
Alex edit: I use the paslode impulse angled unless I have a compressor out already... its been thrown 5 or 6 times for not firing, but I end up buying a new one about every two years anyways. I use a ridgid 15 gauge pnuematic angled.. ridgid's been coming up in the air powered world. Last edited by al10fred1081; 02-14-2008 at 10:42 PM. Reason: another 2 cents |

I am also a fan of the angled. Fitting into tighter spaces means faster production and less headaches.

Re: Straight Or Angled, Which Is Better?
I also own the DeWalt 18v angled trim nailer. Actually, two of them. One was reconditioned with the same warranty as a new one. Tough tool & I rarely have to adjust the depth setting past # 1. The battery last longer in this tool than all of my other Dewalt's.
