Stanley Hinge Template

I came across an old Stanley Door and Jamb butt hinge template (jig) model T-H8 and it has no instructions. Does anyone know where to find a copy of the instructions? It seems all parts are in the steel box but I can't seem to make sense of it. I have 6 door slabs to hang on existing jambs and I thought this might make the job easier.

PS. I have tried the Stanley Tool website with no luck.

So close but no joy. I found the product on the bosch website but the picture was so small I couldn't tell if it was the same as the Stanley. The link did not come up when I hit the button for user manuals. I will keep trying.

PC user? (Might work for Mac as well)
Hold down Ctrl and hit the + button, this increases the size of the page. Each time you hit the + it increases the page size again. You may be able to make the picture big enough to see detail.
You can then use Ctrl - to make it smaller again. Works with most programs.

Re: Stanley Hinge Template

Thanks fo the help. I found out today that it is no longer in production by Stanley or Bosch. Bosch does not post user manuals for things no longer in production even though it is still on there website. I was able to get a copy from my local tool supply house.

Re: Stanley Hinge Template

He gave me a photo copy of them. Can you tell me how I can take a photo copy and make something I can email to you? I am not real computer savvy but if you talk me through it I will be glad to.

Re: Stanley Hinge Template

hmm thats tough unless you have a scanner...in which case if you did, you could scan it, save it as whatever file it requests and shoot it over. short of that im not much more help. could you give me the short version of how it works? im having trouble figuring out what the l shaped slotted brackets are used for at the tops of the template. also what router bits are specified for use? thanks!

Re: Stanley Hinge Template

I do have a scanner but I usually only use it for making copies. If you like I can mail you a copy. Let me know. I read through them and there was nothing about the router bit size. I assume you need to use the bit and collar based on the radius of the hinge you are using.

Re: Stanley Hinge Template

That angled thing goes on the top template to adjust clearance between the door and the top header of the jamb.
Use 1/2" Dia. butt router cutter and a 5/8" (outside dia.) collar on the router. Need any more info? I've been using mine for about forty years.
