Thanks... I guess.

This just proves that I'm a "Carpenter Freak" too.

Do you have a jig or some kind of system for drilling those?
The holes are 1/4" ish (maybe metric) and are on 32 mm centers... old Carhartt display. I used a PB display shelf as the template and lined the drill bit up with the holes in the PB and drilled through the MDO below that was to be the trailer shelf... worked OK for a Luddite like me.

Glad you like it. This is my idea of a good time... so I guess I'm in the right line of work.

Good point... trailers are just big tool boxes. I have plans for a few tool boxes... not sure how soon that will happen though.

Glad to see you're keeping it real.

Yep!

So the interesting thing about my shelving system is that the shelves lock down onto the cargo rails and are held in place without any fasteners (each shelf has four 20" 1x2 cleats attached to the shelf with 4 deck screws per cleat... cleats slip behind the cargo rails). After the shelves are unloaded they lift out very quickly and easily. So I can haul a trailer load of cabinets, etc. if I want to. Can also upgrade to another trailer and the shelves just move on over.

I also used double rails and plowed a groove for slat wall fixtures in the bottom of each top rail.

That's pretty clever... I can't count how many times I wished there was an easy way to pull the steel shelves out of my van. Looks like it'll be a great setup to work out of.

You will be glad you can remove all that without looking for a driver and bit when all is in disarray and you're in a mad rush.

Cool deal Bass

I have resisted the temptation to put shelves in for a while... because I do need to haul big stuff at times... then I thought of this system. It seems like it will work well for me.

Thanks Gus, but things are never in disarray around here.

Neo, I have a helper who is always game... she started using this shelf as soon as it was put in.

She looks like good help.

Now, take care of that carpet
detail and get back to us.

Neo, she's a cool dog.

I found out today that JLC is interested in this trailer stuff for a "Backfill" piece. This would be my first contribution to JLC.

I told the editor, "You mean to tell me that my work is good for backfill?"
