Re: Saw Blades
...I have been using the diablo blades but I do find they can wonder a LITTLE bit in harder woods...I got them b/c they are easy to get a Home Depot. Lowes started stocking CMT blades when H.D. ruined the Avaniti name....that will be my next blade.

Re: Saw Blades
diablo blades always did me good, I am a all around guy so they work just fine for the table and the miter. I also love the Mak blades for the circ saw and they last a long time!

Re: Saw Blades
I am talking about blades you get sharpened over and over and you can replace all the teeth if you want.
I ran Leitz's, then Tenryu, and the Matsush!ta. I am now kind of disappointed in the Leitz blades, I should be getting one of my Matsush!ta's back today from being re-bored to 30mm and I just picked up a new European style Tenryu. The Leitz's for my rail saw are great, the one for my Kapex is disappointing. I usually run a Heavy Duty Workhorse Matsush!ta ATB. Full kerf blade, alternating tooth bevel. The Tenryu I just picked up is an ATAFR which is alternate tooth, alternate face with raker. The Tenryu is an 80T blade. The rest are 60T. I usually find 80T on a 255mm blade to be too many, I guess I will see.

Re: Saw Blades
I have a 12" Leitz that I like for my slider...not much deflection, but it doesn't seem to stay sharp very long.
I have no idea what I'm using on the uni saw. Names have been gone a long time. For a plywood on the tablesaw I use a dewalt and seems to work well. Job site table saw also gets dewalt. 7 1/4 are also dewalt. I look for the packs with the free cooler, or whatever at the lumber yard. Not really that hard on them as long as I remember to change my blade when there is a possibility of nails.

Re: Saw Blades
That's been the issue I am having with the Leitz 255 mm in my miter saw. It lost its edge fast, really fast.

Re: Saw Blades
Leuco is the best tooling that I have ever used if you don't mind spending the money http://www.leucotool.com/1255_ENG_HTML.htm
Leitz would be a distant second FS tool third Don't worry Warner they are all "In Deutschland hergestellt" so they will be right at home in those greeny machineys

Re: Saw Blades
I don't have any loyalty to any one brand.
When I was processing plywood with the unisaw, I bought the high angle atb Forrest blade and loved that blade. The best chance you have cross cutting veneer ply without tear out. I have a Systamatic (sp?) glue line rip blade that is a very good rip blade. We use a FS blade in the chop saw that does an awesome job. I have a blade in the sliding compound miter saw by Amana. Happy with that. But here is the funny thing. The combo blade I always go to in the table saw is the Delta blade that came with the unisaw. That is a great all purpose blade. The most important thing about blades is who you have service them. Most good brands start with decent blanks and good carbide. Then it's up to the sharpening service to really tune them up. Cnc equipment to sharpen them is tough to beat.

Re: Saw Blades
Thanks for the link, saw blades mmmmmm.
I am still wrapped up in my affair with japanese saw blades. I am looking forward to using my matsus!ta on my kapex. I want to use my new tenryu this week, I am looking for a super clean cross cut.

Re: Saw Blades
For the table saw, try the Porter Cable (I think its called a multi tooth ant-vibration something or other) blade. I bought it because I needed a blade in short order and it was like 40 or 50$. I love it. The thing's stayed sharp for a long time and makes rips in ply and hardwood phenomenaly! I makes crosscuts better than the Festool blade in my HT-55!
Bergstrom, I know that's pretty far beneath you but save some $$ and try it once The best blade I've ever had was the makita blade that came w/ my miter saw. Getting to be time for another sharpen though. I tried the Avanti blades and thought they were poop. Didn't stay sharp long enough. The Freud seems to dull quick after a resharpen too but like Gus said, that could be a bad sharpen and not a bad blad. The Avanti seems to dull quick right out of the package! Never tried the uber expensive ones, are they worth the extra money? Do they make the cut that much better? |
