PVC Wide Cornerboards Azek-Kleer

Does anyone know of a manufacturer that makes a wider profile cornerboard? I've looked at the websites for Azek, Kleer and some others and they all seem to offer only 4" & 6" widths. I'm attempting to create more of a Greek Revival look that requires 10" or 12" corners. I know that I can use a couple boards, but if somebody makes a quality wider corner, it's worth a look for me.

You must be referring to pre made corners? If so, you have to make them yourself.

More of a storage area and garage, but yes, it's mine. I ran a thread called "The siding chronicles" last spring during the siding of this building and my house.http://www.contractortalk.com/f33/si...onicles-57323/

Azek is also available in sheet goods, all different thicknesses . . .

a corner that wide traditionally wouldn't have a mitered joint any way

Good point. Also, Azek is now available with finished edges, which eliminates the porous factory edges and their tendancy to hold dirt. In the past, I have always mitered the corners for that reason. Sanding any sawn edges down to a 180 grit will help prevent the pores from holding dirt as well. It kind of seals the grain, in a sense.

Yeah, plus the friction created while sanding I think 'melds' (melts/molds) it a little . . .

Exactly, I agree. While sanding, you can actually feel when it's good. Sand to agressively and the paper will clog along with the material gumming.
When you get it right, you can feel the change in friction when the surface becomes "polished". We do alot of beading and edge profiles with Azek and it's very important to sand the machined edges to prevent dirt from collecting.

I've just been fortunate enough to have done about 10 very high end Azek exterior packages. I've learned many dos and don'ts along the way. If I don't share what I've learned, I'll always be a student and never a teacher.

Re: PVC Wide Cornerboards Azek-Kleer

I will most heartily agree that is well said.

But lets not give it up on the first day of school.

In the op we have a first time poster with no introduction, no location,
claiming to be a designer that has no idea that a Greek revival home has built up corner boards, No mention of substrate or what type of siding.

The reason for the built up corner boards is ex....... & co.........

three mod responding to this tread and no request for a introduction whats up?

I'm not big on intro enforcement. The opening post was not of a nature that prompted an "intro" response from me. It opened a door for discussion of different alternatives for an acceptable solution, not only for the OP, but other members as well.
