I agree with this guy. Even if you only charge 1.00 sq. ft. that's still 4500.00. For me on a house of the size I have seen 12,000.00 to 30,000.00 because houses of this size have a lot of custom built items.

So let me get this straight, he came to you and he dictated the price?

The price is wrong.

Re: Pricing New Homes For Trim?

basically yeah, said ill pay you $3000, i almost laughed at him, basically id be taking a paycut from what im doing now, and that wouldnt even cover overhead

the best part is, ive asked for a set of drawings that i could do a rough take off from, he wont give me a drawing, his remark is that you can tell a guy knows what hes doing by the way he talks. the way i talk to him is that if i take that price you'll bankrupt me just like you're family has done to so many other tradesman

I wouldnt even get involved! I was working for another "GC" once, we were all working for him hourly, wanted to side a triple decker 3 family house for $1500 in vinyl. Alot of metal, alot of windows...... He thought he was right on with the budget too! Needless to say, none of us work with him now, ho owes many people thousands of dollars, and is getting sued this month. Skip the headache!

If everybody reads that, I think that will solve the "how much do I charge" questions!
