For crown I charge $10 per foot, $3 per 1/4" for each 1/4" beyond the long point of a square cut. reverse the price if inverted base is requested to form a 2 pc crown Which then I figure the crown price, the reversed price for the inverted base, multiply by 2, (2 pcs, crown & base).

Do not let these guys scare you about pricing crown, follow above prices.
Now if you have to add material, you are lucky because I always charge NY prices as they are higher, meaning more profit for me. With you beig in NY you have this one up cause, you guessed it, you are there.
Now if you have to price painting as well, more profit
But you have to call & find out is primer needed, if so price that in Va, cost more there.
Then you have to know type of finish needed as well as color ya know.
So add some extra, this way you can tell them they are lucky as you will deduct a few bucks cause they are the 15th caller this month, Great sales pitch, just the money offered has to be less than the upcharge you just added.

Chit, what is they want a 5 pc crown, or you have to move furniture, or babysit as well, what about if you have to walk the their dog??

Look do this, find out the needed info, gimme all the 1/4" s above the long point of the square cut, outside & inside corners, the 45 degree walls, and 22 1/2 degree walls as well. Please do not forget to include naked pic of homeowner is she is a hottie, (it helps with pricing if you know what i mean).

Then I will do it for free for you, for just 3, count them, 3 easy payments of just $49.95

i think a whole thread and even chat site could be dedicated to that!

my buddy bill said he was giving a quote to some hottie and tells her "i gotta be honest, i'm really attracted to you" and she ended up doing more work on him then he did for her

Just to throw some numbers out there, how about if you tried say, $2.50/ft, plus $25/corner (inside or outside), plus $1/ft to paint
