Oval And Circle Cutting Jig

Has anyone used this one yet? Thinking about getting one. I like the vacuum attach option, no screw holes in the wood..Thing is, it wont cut smaller than a 25" oval.

Never used it, but it really looks slick. Not to much cash either.

Depends on the application. If it is a tabletop where one side is unseen, then just screw it. Otherwise clamp it and move the clamps as you go around. A lot of times it is just a half ellipse and you can screw it on an unused section. Made this with my big one.

Re: Oval And Circle Cutting Jig

Leo that is first class sir, I take my hat of to you.Thumb if I was cutting Ellipse out all day this would be just the tool but As a kid I was shown by a loftsman how to mark an ellipse out.First with a string and 3 nails, after showing me he said never use it,its to inaccurate it depends on the pressure or lack of it that you place on the line.
He then started to talk to me about Archimedes triangles and the reflection by the ellipse (just blew me away man the whole thing just flew right over my head).I think he was having a laugh.
He then said I'll show you, what he called the Carpenter's method and this was just a stick with two marks on it.The jig is just a different variation of the same method so how any one can hold a patent on that I will never know
and I can understand both you and Thumb making a jig of your own.
