Kind of makes me feel special, a little!!

The rough sawn on the saw horse's is Ash, I am making that into my kitchen floor, wide plank and kind of still looking a little rough sawn as well.

The other floor is from the main part of the house. The orginal floor is the qustionable subject!!

I couldn't even drink one margarita, I am a cheap date.

Quarter sawn or rift cut would tell most,
if it's better lit, and you remember to
set the camera to macro!

If the girl is pretty enough you can
just skip the damn lumber.

Diane Lane or Emmy Lou will do nicely.

Ok Warner, one more request.

Take a 12" stick of that wood and see if you can suck water through it.

If you can't, give it to the pretty lady for a try.

Report back with the results.

Really? No, really?

That would be the first wood in her mouth in quite a while.

That is funny, and sad

Neo says you can draw water through a 3" stick of Red oak and you will blow a gasket on white oak.

That end grain looks like white oak to me. But the other shots look like ash.

I wonder where Bass is tonight.

Or just blow bubbles in water.
That works for white oak, but I've
never tried that trick with american chestnut.
They have so much in common except
for the meduilar rays.

No, I mean if it won't blow bubbles
it isn't red oak, but it still could be
white oak or chestnut.

Or ash.
But I'll take Darcy's word that it
doesn't smell like the ash he has.

Good night to do the Neo wood test then.

Man 4 is young for sleep overs. How many rug rats are at this party?
That couple may be in for an interesting night.

At that age, if they were at my house
I'd always wind up calling parents or
driving one home in the middle of the night.

I don't know anything about chestnut. Except that you are telling me the end grain of chestnut looks a lot like white oak.

Did chestnut suffer a plague like elm did?

There were about 4, 4 year olds, a couple 5-6 year olds and 8 and 9 year old. About 8 I suppose sleeping over. My little girl (not little anymore) is very well behaved. She was totally excited about it, and the first one to want to put her PJ's on!!

It used to be the most common hardwood
east of the Mississippi, so....
Yes.
