Looks nice, is there a reason the cubby's are not pushed to the ceiling?

That is a huge dust trap up there.

Glad I could help inspire Joasis! and glad you guys approve!

Warner I didn't go to the top due to the owners request, it would have looked a little tall in my opinion too, i'm not the one dusting so I'm fine with it

Maybe offer a wood sofet and built up crown for an option.
The worst it could do is make you some more money.

Looks awesome. What type of wood are the tops? Beadboard always looks great.

I like it.

Sure beats an old hamper in the corner. Or just a pile of clothes like I have.

Re: Mudroom Built-In

Andy, nice job, some design things for you to consider, if you used a cleat under instead of a full leg to the floor for the bench you would have eliminated that short base return to the left and right of the drawer unit, creating a nicer flow all around and a more built in feel. Also the vert 1x4 covering the bead board seam at 4ft, you dont need it, if you wanted to break the back wall visually, carrying the 1x4 up at the corner of the bench, that would have created 3 panels, its always helpful to justify your division work with referance points as you go. 3 panels also would have effected your hook layout, i would have to lay it out to see how the new hook pattern would work out. Lastly, the outlets are disturbing in that location, a wall outlet in a high location looks better if it has a specific purpose, cell phone charging station etc...For vaccuming one outlet on that right return wall, down low would have serviced the area, unless they plan on using the bench for a coffee maker, it has no business up there. Hope these suggestions help you to consider other design options, GMOD, PS, i would have brought the cubbies to the cieling as well and crowned to cieling.

Re: Mudroom Built-In

I appreciate the thoughts Gene! I did consider breaking the 1x4 above the tops as you mentioned but thought it may look too cluttered, its not in the middle to break a seam actually, I definitely toyed with that one for a while though, the ultimate decider was the hook layout in accordance with the cubbies. In reguard to the outlets there is a pocket door to the right and psl's to the left, and the homeowner wanted power?? I agree a little unsightly but I wasn't sure where else they could go so the reveals were just split evenly to make it look as good as possible.

alboston: the tops are actually 6/4 pine, stained and finished with antique oil finish, glad you like them!
