Looks Normal Enough.....

From the front

But a top view shows it is a corner cabinet, and a small one too. It is so shallow and the fact that it has a toekick it won't even stand up. It is front heavy and will just fall over. Good thing it is getting screwed to 2 walls.

Door gaps a lil heavy along the top compared to the bottom.

Man, what's the idea behind that? what is going on either side...or is it just going to be dead air space behind this unit to hide his weed?

Re: Looks Normal Enough.....

You can tell that from a compressed jpeg image from my phone? Door won't be adjusted until it is installed (Euro hinges).

The left side will be up against a floor to ceiling refrigerator cabinet and the right side will go against the wall. The wall leans about 1/2" over 8' so that is what the large scribe is for. It will have a solid Cherry top.

It is near the entrance to the kitchen from outside. If the cabinet were bigger it would interfere with access (so they thought). They wanted a place to throw their keys and stuff as they enter in the house.

That crazy gappage is 3/32". Pretty standard. I shoot for 5/64" in the summer. The gaps will shrink with the summer humidity.

No big deal

They want it bad enough to pay for it, you build it.

Did the door have a chance to age a little more than the frame?

Nice looking work on the stiles.

Wouldn't be big enough if I were to use it for that.

No, end of the cherry supply. Doesn't really matter much. A few months down the line it will all come together after it ages a bit.

I use to worry a lot when making natural cherry kitchens. About trying to get the color perfect and ordering more wood if I ran out of a certain tone of cherry. Only to go back a few months later to find everything has aged to pretty much the same tone. Live and learn.

That's what I love most about Cherry. I've been building my kitchen in stages as I have time. New doors or cabinets stand out like a new penny to begin with, but within weeks, you can see them already starting to blend.
