Ideas For Shutters

I guess this is the right place for this.

I built this 20'x20' open room this spring. The customer now wants to be able to use it year round, so is asking for ideas re: shutters. Also mentioned blacksmith work ( ) to be used with removable shutters. Posts are 8"x8", beams 6"x12". Openings are approx. 5'x8' and 5'x10'. The top gable triangles have plexi in them already so they are not part of it.

Bend your able minds to this, people, if you are so inclined. The winner gets an invite to dinner: the customer is a fantastic cook and supplies all the beer while you're in the hot tub waiting for your food.

Tks Cm, Not airtight, once you get the fire going and the ss barbecue crankin' out his latest creation it should stay warm(ish) in there. So far I'm thinking bifolds too. There's no ins. so it's never gonna be 'lie naked on the rug' territory, but I think they're looking for at least 'cut the wind'. Definitely 'no blowing snow'!

Re: Ideas For Shutters

Too bad they dont make a decent roll-up, with wood slats like a roll top desk. you could mount those up under the eaves and roll em down. Sorry, i shouldnt type while thinking...lol

Id say bifolds stained to match. Beautiful project by the way.

Bull, I love the roll-top idea, anyone done that? Slats backed onto canvas perhaps, weird hardware, nightmare detailing, I wanna do it!

Re: Ideas For Shutters

I thought about roll ups.great idea that will probably not work well with the blacksmith theme.

You can buy 'Tambor' in 4 X 8 sheets (or even 4 X 10, I believe), - - but personally, I would make removable wainscot-panel-bottomed, glass topped matching doors on trolley tracks.

Heavy-duty and still lets the natural light.

Plus no bottom connections necessary.

Bifolds and tambor are both way too flimsy for this application, IMO . . .
