I Went From Yellow To Green

This past Friday I took the dive.... About a year ago I purchased Dewalt's DW 718 (12" sliding mitre) and used it a lot over the past year with few complaints, the main being that the dust extraction port is useless. You better use the saw outside or be prepared to cover everything and leave yourself time to clean up. Other than that I like the saw and I have a lot of other Dewalt tools that I have had much successs with (the best being their 18v cordless nailers).

I picked up a few custom bar jobs in finished basements that require dust free tools or do all of the cutting outside and climb up and down the steps hundreds of times.

I purchased Festool's Kapex and CT 22. These are my first Festool tools...and after a few test cuts today all I can say is SMOOOOOOOOOOTH! and the dust extraction is awsome!

I may have bought my last yellow tool.

Someone else is dipping into the green kool-aid.
I stole that from bass.

I saw that saw demonstrated at a show at my local yard. Seems like the best saw out there by far.

I'm gonna have to drink some more of that Kool-Aid first, but I would love to have that saw

No ****, thats like a Sasquatch stride. I hope you got a 36mm hose as well. You will see maxumum dust collection with the 36mm.

No doubt the most expensive single tool they offer here, I have been working my way to that saw for a while but, can't let go of my Bosch just yet (and a few hundred dollars worth of blades for it).

That will be the perfect saw for cutting in a basement.

It will feel like that saw paid for itself in a weeks time!!!

I meant baby steps after this huge leap.... but I have already went thru festool's '09 catalog, that I got with the saw, 3 times (on the throne. My wife has magazines... I have tool catalogs).

And yes.... Rockler did not have the 36mm hose in stock but they ordered it for me.

If you just got the hose, have them return it and get the tradesman/installer cleaning set #454 766. Its like another 70 bucks and you get a whole bunch of crap to do quick clean up after work with.

Then stop, and buy no more for a month, at least 2 weeks.

Warner.... Thank you for the tip , I will do that. How do you like the C 12? I think I can get a good deal on one with all 3 chucks.

Re: I Went From Yellow To Green

Its the only cordless drill I use any more. I charge a battery about every 2 weeks or so on average. You wont believe how many times you will use the different chucks, that drill has been a life saver a few times. I should take a picture of mine, it has had a hard life for only 8 months of use so far.

That green kool-aid sure tastes good.
Hide it from the wife, they never truly understand the tool obsession. And the shoe analogy doesn't work well either

Re: I Went From Yellow To Green

Gus, remeber what I said about my MFT/3 and my old lady? That was when I brought it straight home and set it up in the middle of the living room, she came home from work and got all pissy. Till I really made it a multifunction table, then she was all smiles AND LET ME GET BACK TO MY TABLE!!!

It took a little salesmanship before I could drop a 100 grand on a cnc router. I can still win a battle once in a while too.

The other halves are the toughest sales. If you can sell them on it, you can sell anything to anyone else!!

Man, all this Festool talk is making me want to drop some serious coin on a whole bunch of their products.

I keep going back and looking at their site and watching the videos...

I've gotta go out for a fancy night for my "other half's" company tonight . She says, "at least it's free..." Sure. $15 to dry clean my suit. $93 for her new dress. $45 for the baby sitter. $25 for pizza for the kids and baby sitter...

I think this is a good time to tell her about the new "free" miter saw I'm going in for.
