Hang Plazma

Hi,
I'll need to redo old work and hang new plazma on the wall, do you think I can go to old holes and with old bolts, it's in wood studs.
Or probably and more reliable to go to new spot and new bolts.

Also what it the rule for pilot holes to achieve max strength ?
Does it go with normal rules like in Pilot Hole Size Table, probably for soft wood...

Tx
Dai

Re: Hang Plazma

I would just move the bracket up or down and inch or two and re-mount. Whenever I drill pilot holes I drill a hole just slightly smaller than the shank (minus the threads).

Now keep in mind my advice is worth about what you paid for it.

Someone else may know for certain that drilling new holes so close to the old ones is a recipe for disaster...so with that disclaimer...you can't sue me.

I did this exact same thing to a 50" plasma (mine) about 3 years ago....still hanging tough...I think.

Re: Hang Plazma

I usually drill the hole 1/8" smaller. Ive moved them down about 2 inches with no problem.

Re: Hang Plazma

What's the weight? You have wood studs, this is good. I'd go with a few Tapcons (they publish tension and shear on every box). I know that they are for concrete but also have a very aggressive thread that also works well in wood.
