Green Kitchen Or Just Cheap? Blog Entry

I just added a blog post on going cheap on kitchens:

http://www.contractortalk.com/blogs/...just-cheap-41/

Now donning flame-retardant suit.

Cheers,

Bass

Like you said in there, all kitchens used to be built that way.
No backs and built on site. If the materials are fairly decent, you should get a job that lasts for quite some time.

I know the old one's are a bear to tear out.

That is basically the way the
cabinets in this house are built.
Except the sides are 1X pine,
as are the shelves and face frames.
Doors are 5/8s fir ply, and the original
tops were ¾" 5 ply fir with Formica laminate.
Doing fine after 59 years.
