Going Back To Work
Hey guys, I am getting back in the trenches so to speak after a long hiatus will be starting a Mcmansion here in Socal in the next 4-6 weeks. I will be doing the finish trim work on this bad boy 10,000 sq.ft. The job has currently been in a stand still for about 6 weeks (fire sprinkler issue) they should be starting the sheet rock pretty soon
I'm thinking about running a blog type thread of this job. posting pics along the way and discussing issues that arise during the process. there is going to be a lot of ceiling treatment work. nothing to crazy but decent for socal. would the members here be interested in watching something like this? also after reading a lot of threads on here It seems that there is a lot of talk about bad framers, drywall hanging out past jambs, crooked walls and other incidental BS. The guys I work for have a solution for all of these issues (fix it) it is this mentality that makes me carry an arsenal of tools to deal with a lot of random stuff. I had an 18' enclosed trailer built a few years ago. I stuffed it full of tools so I don't get caught with my pants down and can be of service in a lot of situations that most guys will whine about. This Job will be a T&M deal so it is what it is. I am considering video documenting this project and producing my own pilot show, a lot of these tool bags I see on TV make me sick. Anyone have any contacts in the home improvement TV industry?

Re: Going Back To Work
Home improvement TV is all run by Scripps-Howard- they own buy DIY and HGTV. They don't want real-life, quality construction footage shot with real contractors- they want the crap that you currently see with "licensed contractors" like Amy Matthews and Paul Ryan, who are actually actors who read off of cue cards. The chances of you being able to produce a TV-quality pilot that they'd be interested in, without spending $20-30k on high-quality camera and sound equipment are pretty slim.
