Festool Kapex

I was wondering if any one has used this saw and if they thought is was worth the $1300 + price tag?
I was recently @ a festool dealer and asked if i could take it on a test drive (but he declined)!

My friend has it, I have logged quite a few hours on it. I think the main reason to buy it is if you have other tools from Festool. It really does fit into their system. It has some really neat features not found on other saws that is for sure, very small footprint, very light. He has his mounted on a new Bosch stand. I wish it was just a bit cheaper but, you do pay a premium for their tools (used value is 80% plus though). If you got the money and you want it buy it. If you dont like it you got 30 days to take it back.

i do have there ts75 plunge cut saw. and thats worth every penny. i saw alot of good features on the kapex BUT 1300 plus. i was reading that they just made a price increase on all tools and accessories. so every dealer is the same price!

i think it just alittle steep 799-899 i could justify it

My dad had a project at University of MD, installing these 1 3/4" Fiberglass panels in the sprinkler testing lab, and they were specially fabricated for the college & supplied by the college. They were very specific as to the fact they had JUST enough to do the room, with no room for error.

The only tool that would do the cuts the way he needed them to be was the Festool "TS 75 EQ Plunge Cut Circular Saw". It was pretty pricey, but he said the guard rail that came with it was heavan. He also bought the 60 tooth solid surface blade, which was needed for the project. Said it paid for itself in the project alone.

He said if he could afford it he would outfit his whole shop & van with Festool, but way to expensive. The cabinetmaker next to my warehouse also has MANY Festool tools & equipment, and loves each and every one. He does mostly millwork for fast track school projects, and said he would never go back. Everything I have ever tried of Festool I have loved, but besides a circular saw and/or a dust extractor have no real reason to own anything they make.

Having said that, if I had the money I'd get everything from jizsaws to cordless drills to table saws, etc..but the tools we have for rough carpentry work just fine without the added expense.

I have never tried the Kapex miter saw, but I would say, having tested & used a wide array of their other tools, if you can afford it, you won't be sorry about the purchase. They are just down right quality tools for the trade.

I to agree that the tools are very high grade and make all jobs go alittle smoother. i have the dewalt slide miter saw and that also was not cheap. i use my saw for running all types of trim one week to cutting studs next week, and cutting composite decking the following week. with the switch of a blade ofcoarse.

i dont think i can bear the thought to take a $1300 + saw to cut lumber and decking.

i do like the angle finder attachment though that seams pretty sweet!

I tried a Kapex at a festool dealer - made a few cuts. It was nice but man it's expensive. I am a festool guy and love their tools but it's too expensive for me. The real benifit is with the dust collection - which is impressive. If you don't have a festool vac and dust collection isn't a big concearn for you I don't think it's worth it.

Of course if money wasn't an issue I'd buy one in a second.

i think i would not leave the room that the saw was in and pack it up at lunch time,

id probably get divorced if i bought it, so i would sleep with the saw by my side and never ever leave it un attended.

Fivestar, I am in deep with thier stuff, TS-55, 4 rails, Rotex, DX93, CT-22, C-12, Cleaning kits, extra systainers, a few Sortainers, MFT/3 table, and more. I will buy a Kapex when I run into the job that it would be suited for, then I could retire my Big Bosch for just the grunt work. I mean what other miter saw has a variable speed motor?

You get what you pay for, some people just dont need to spend that kind of money either.

If I had to choose between my wife and my festools I would wheel her to the bus stop on my CT-22. That's a joke - I think.

Mine knows they cost a bunch but, she sees how happy they make me and I think she is trying to learn from that.

It is kind of hard to find some Festool Green undies for the old lady but, that would be hot on top of the MFT!

The people who really appreciate these tools most are the home owners. They can come home after somone has been working in their house all day and not find a dusty mess. That is what sold me.

Thats a great point the dust control is unsurpassed!
un furtunately right now it would be collecting dust rather than inhaling it
