Festool??????????
I am considering the track saw, but I am not that comfortable dropping the $$$ right now. What I really like about Festool are the blades. Anyone know of something comparable for my old faithful Milwaukee 7 1/4 circ saw? Or where to find Festool at the best price.
thanks

From what Ive seen, you arent really going to find the "best price" on festool
Basically it is what it is, and you get what you pay for
As for blades, I have heard rumblings around here about the freud blades being very good. But what blade you look for really depends on what you are cutting. I havent seen much use for a skill saw doing finish work haha
Give us a little more info about what you are using your skill saw for, and someone on here will know what blade works best for that

look on ebay for the festool, now with the times being ruff there are good deals, but dont jump on the first one you see.
i was looking for about 3 weeks and ended up with a gently used ts75 with 75"guide rail, clamps, brand new extra blade, systainer and brand new tee shirt(in a bag)and shipping for well under $500
new all this would be close to $800
the tee shirt was to small will give to my nephew (future generation carpenter)

I looked at the Dewalt track saw at the wood working show. It looked pretty decent. If you're not a fan of the yellow, I did see a Makita track saw at Tool King here in Denver.

Thanks, I do use the matsu****a blade, but after a few cuts (particularly maple) I had a lot of chipping. I have been doing paint grade built ins for a while, and recently began a renovation where the customer wants me to build his office out of mahogany. 5 star, how does that 75" rail work when ripping sheets of plywood? Probably a dumb question, but I'll ask anyway.

Regarding the rail and their saw on ply wood. That is what the saws were designed to do; so much eaiser than a table saw for full sheet goods.
Three steps in making a cut with the rails and the saw.
1. Measure to size and put two tick marks on your material.
2. Lay rail on material, lining up splinter guard with tick marks.
3. Plunge and cut, nice smooth chip free cuts every time.

They're just stacked so high because I needed something from the bottom of another stack and piled 'em on...it still moves very easily though, but I can see where it's getting near the tipping point if I wasn't careful.

I bought my 55 for doing doors, flooring repairs and installs, I use it for just about everything now with the MFT. That saw has save my hide on a few old house many times.
If I need more cutting depth I just go about 7 blocks and use my buddies 75.

I am a new festool owner and all i can say is WOW
i think the main reason to get the track saw is for cutting that expensive plywood. YOu cant hardly get a better cut on plywood with anything else.
I got the ts55 and loveit.
JF: that is so not fair, i am lusting after your shop.
