Door Hardware
I have a question about those little springy door stop thangs that keep passage door knobs from hitting the wall. Are they better mounted on the door so they contact the base? Or are they better mounted on the base so the door contacts them? I always installed them in the latter but....

Re: Door Hardware
I think that's why they are a spring for vacuming. I personally don't think it matters. Ask HO which they want.
Do you think if you mount 50 or so together you could make a new musical instrument? I love that sound too! BOOOOOOIIIIINNNNNGGGG |

Re: Door Hardware
Install them on the baseboard. Hold them up as high on the base as possible. This allows for the vacuum to go under, but if it does hit, no damage is done. Hold the door to the base and make sure the rubber knob on the spring bump hits the solid part of the door. This is usually about 1" from the edge of the door. Also go for the wider spring base units. These will last longer. These are good too because you can install them prior to carpeting and they just twist out of the bump base. The carpet guy can remove them, and install them when he is done. Then you are not installing door knobs over new carpet.

Re: Door Hardware
i usually use the hinge pin type of stop, their alittle more expensive but they are out of the way,and you can adjust how far you want the door to open.

Re: Door HardwareQuote:
Went and bought some of those little plastic pads you stick on furniture feet, put them covering the hole on every door and had the painter paint them LOL For base stops, I hook my tape on the strike edge of the door, push it against the base, then shut the door leaving your tape against the base. Set all my base stops the width of the tape ( 3" ) from the edge of the door. |
