Deep Plunge With A Router

More of an equipment question.
Decorative corbel will cover a structural support. the support has a third leg/brace. Its narrow (~1/8) but will end up being deep inside the corbel (~6" from the right angle of the support)
Is there a router bit (call it the "Narwhal") for this -- or is a table saw the only solution?

Re: Deep Plunge With A Router

even if there is a 6" router bit, I wouldn't want to be the person running it. how big is the corbel? you say it's gotta cut in 6" from the right angle, will your table saw get that deep?

Sounds like something one would
laminate.
Rabbet out 1/16" ± from each of two
pieces, then glue them together.
Either that or a long narrow mortising
chisel.....

You could rent one of these, - - but it looks like it won't even go that deep

When I was about 19 years old I worked for a post and beam outfit in the shop. They used a hole cutter and chisels for those types of mortises.

Aren't 1/8" chisels kinda flexy?

Tom, Did you understand what
I meant about laminating it?
Maybe you could describe it better.
