My floor is ash too. 8" face. I had my lumber yard mill it for me. They were so pleased to get rid of all the brown and knotted boards they sold it to me for a song.
And I sing for crap.

What are you talking about old man. It hasn't cost me anything. You been sniffing that California compliant VOC lacquer again?

I guess we're still about even. I found this in the beaded FF thread:

I have the guillotine and use it to touch up my applied moldings. You guys take it to another level.

I send that out Leo. I hate the smell of that stuff.
The air quality control people are really making it hard for a local finisher to compete against out of state finishes. It is starting to be a real issue. Stay tuned.

Just use the newer water bornes. So what if you have to sand 2 grits higher. So what if they raise the grain. So what if you need to put on 2 extra coats because it can only be applied at 2-3 mil instead of 4-5 mil. So what if it doesn't even have a TR4 rating. So what if if costs almost double what the solvent base finishes cost. ITS GREEN.....

I'm all for "Green" as is most anyone anymore. But holy throw the baby out with the bath water Batman.
Everyone wants the best possible finish on all their possessions. Ya think anyone would buy a car with a water born finish on it?
Some day there may be a really superior water born finish and the tides will shift. Until then we need to be able to provide our clients with an answer to the Canadian's baked enamel and a host of other states in the US that allow just about anything.
Seems like there should be a level playing field. We all breath the same air, last I checked anyway.

Man. that was a bust. Go outside and my sons car is behind my truck. I walk around and he has a flat tire. So I figured I'd just get it done for him being the good father I am. I took it off and brought it to the local garage to get it patched. It had a brown bottle slice in the tread. After I brought it there the guy noticed it had a nail in the sidewall. So no way to patch it.
Went back home and woke the boy up and told him we needed to go shopping, get up. Brought it to town fair tire and asked about doing a used tire but they don't do that anymore. So I got a new tire $88 mounted and balanced, told them no new stem @ $4 a pop. 1 1/2 hour wait, I went to the shop, got 8 doors assy before I had to go back up to TFT. Made the boy put it on so he would know how. Such a good father
