Re: Custom Cabinet Pricing
Where are you located? If you are in the mid west my price is going to seem real high. On the other hand if you are in CA my price may seem low. With that being said $350 a foot is on the low side and for that it is walk in closet stuff paint grade no finish I have a custom shop and I mean custom when I say that holding higher standards then AWI. I almost always have toekick step stools, tv pop up, hugh range hood enclosures, beaded face frame and doors, dovetailed solid wood cabinets...etc. I know of a lot of people saying custom but what they say and what you can now get at a chain store is very close.

Re: Custom Cabinet Pricing
How much is a 'custom' anything? Pretty much it's whatever the customer is willing to pay.
I work mostly in solid, exotic woods. A galley (small kitch.) on a yacht made from Koa wood, inset oval doors (mitred and blind mortised) with bookmatched panels and hand made pulls can run you $150K. A regular kitch. with black walnut boxes, ebony rails and stiles and bookmatched zebrawood panels can go about the same or higher.

Re: Custom Cabinet Pricing
i did use the term custom rather loosely... how custom is a plywood box? our "average" pricing is obviously for our "average" work, all info is much appreciated. very true, that pricing is job specific and is often dictated by how much the customer is willing to pay. i do find the range of costs based on location very interesting. i am in the northeast and felt we were in the higher end of the average but i am sometimes shocked to hear how little or how much some people are charging. Great forum i am really glad we found it.
