how do you find numbers when you have a 45 and a 90 coming in together....in other words how do you match the tops of the profiles

Re: Crown Masters Help
I'm not sure I even understand the thread title, but why would someone be a "no coping" crown guy?. Is coping now bad? Did I miss a memo?

Re: Crown Masters Help
He may be working a ceiling rake to a wall, my best guess.

Re: Crown Masters Help
You need to miter the two larger pieces from where that small piece ends.
Please excuse the crudeness of my drawing. Last edited by In_Mexifornia; 04-26-2007 at 07:02 PM. |

Re: Crown Masters Help
When you make the small middle piece, put it up against the larger pieces and where the intersection is, then you will have to mitre the bigger pieces like Mexifornia said.
Now the angle is a little tricky, but not too bad. If you can picture the walls coming together, without the small part, then you have an inside 45. My mind is drawing a complete blank, would this make it a really sharp inside 67.5 angle for the top snub off?

Re: Crown Masters Help
In my humblest opinion....I would run your piece over the door first with a miter that lays flush to the wall, then cope the smaller piece (cope on right, square an left), then scribe the last piece of cabinet trim to the clusterf!@#.
In my strange mind, the higherarchy goes from room trim that should be consistant, to cabinet trim which is added. I'd like to see the finished project! Good Luck! |
