Re: Charge For Crown Instalation

Seeing as I have bid a job that cost $140 LF and was 14" gold leafed plaster, I'd say about $250 a LF.

Re: Charge For Crown Instalation

I usually bid between $1.00 and $100,000 per LF. More for gold leaf.

Hard to say Chas, prices vary across the country.

Re: Charge For Crown Instalation

Depends on size, number of coped joints, ceiling height, etc. How many feet can you run in an hour on average X's how much you want to make + overhead and profit= your price. My price varies job to job. As little as $3.50 lf up to .....

Your prices seem way low for NYC. Give us a detailed description on exactly what you want to know, such as types of corners, how many, size and type of material, Painting, fill in nail holes. That kind of stuff. I charge $4 ln ft plus paint, fill ect. Or I will charge about $30 a corner depending and what the size is.

This question has been rehashed about a thousand times. Someone asked a similar question about 2 days ago.

Re: Charge For Crown Instalation

An installation price thread should be started in the carpentry forum all in one. ie. Crown baseboard wainscoting decks etc. Thus stoping the constant threads being started on the same topics.

How did you come up with $11.00? Is that per linear foot or per cut?

I carry .05 manhours per linear foot plus .15 manhours per inside/outside corner, as a productivity rate plus travel, set up, tear down etc. Two man crew, no room is ever calculated at less than 3 manhours regardless of size.

Re: Charge For Crown Instalation

I just bid one 306' @ $3.20 per foot, 3 5/8" MDF crown, 8' high, 10 corners, Material picked up prior to project and delivered to client so they could paint it first, I would putty and caulk. $980($250 in material) No go, they said to exspensive!
I'm doing 82', painted too for $400, for a different client tomorrow.
What blows me away is that I just tore out a 3' Therma-Tru threshold for some one that took me 1 hour plus finding a T.T thresh($15), and made $220 off that, and the client had no problem with that, but then there's people that want specialty projects like 5 rooms of crown with all the above at handy man rates. I didn't go to all the trouble to get my license to charge handy man rates.

HOs want stuff done for 10$ an hr and GCs bitch about my already competive prices . its a no win situation for me. i have lost a lot of jobs b/c HO have no idea about the expences involved. i qouted a lady last week for a 144 SQ FT deck at 1500 w/ materials and she was floored, materials alone were 600$. needless to say i didnt get it. maybe if i would have paid her for me to build it she would've let me build it

Re: Charge For Crown Instalation

This topic should of been a sticky the day contractor talk was started. If i may make a suggestion, gather every piece of information on this forum from every time that question was asked group it all together and re-label it "pricing forum enter at your own risk" and make it permanent.
