Cabinet Door Warpage

I Built six bookcases with 3/4 birch ply. And then cut doors and shelves. I let that sit for 3 or 4 days and when I returned to the shop I found big problems with the shelves and doors warping. They were unfinished but laying flat or stood up against the shop wall. Some are bowing 1/2 or more. I really am at the end of this now for they all now have 2 coats of poly on and just need sanding and final coat. Any tricks at all would help on how to straighten them out a bit. Thanks for any help.

Unfortunatley, you may have to remake those doors. Sounds like a problem with the grade of plywood. Most of the stuff sold as "Birch" plywood is imported trash, not like in the old days when birch plywood was synonomous with cabinet grade material. You have to go to a specialty supplier or lumberyard that deals in high quality wood to get a true cabinet grade of birch.

You have to look at the core. Cheaper plywoods have cores that do not remain stable. Cores with some MDF like a "classic core" or even an MDF core will remain stable and not warp on you. You should discuss the cores of the plywood you're buying from your plywood supplier. Sometimes I will buy an import core with a B grade veneer if I know i'm going to use it and install the cabinets rather quickly and I save maybe $20 a sheet.
