Cabinet Constuction With Pictures Oh Boy

We started a home office yesterday. I thought I would show some of the highlights along the way.

Starting with the drawings for the HO.
This job I sold with basically these two drawings and alot of charming salesmanship.
Office 3d.pdf

office wall elavation.pdf

Then that info is used to produce all the drawings and cutting info for the shop. As well as door and drawer box sizes so I can order those. (easy Leo, I know that hurts ya a little)

Here is the pages for the sheets of maple ply as they will look on the machine. After they are cut we use these to lable all the parts.

Here are 2 of those sheets. See how all the machining is handled, line boring dadoes, rabbets, system holes for slides, the works.

Then the real time saver is at the assembly bench as all the parts are registered by the joinery. It is like a puzzle.

I had to leave the shop for a few hours today and did not get the chance to photo the frames being built. But that is kinda strait forward.
Then clamp them on the boxes. This break down clamp bench is real handy. The narrow parts of the bench don't get in the way of the clamps.

There is the assembly sheets that has the info needed for the guys and the face frame cut list I'll post next reply

Re: Cabinet Constuction With Pictures Oh Boy

This Face frame cut list is from long to short pieces so it self optimizes. The off fall from the long pieces usually get cut up with the shorter pieces down the list. The larger the job the better it works.

sorry I got the paint grade laundry cabinet frame parts in there too.
Crystal Reports ActiFrame cut list.pdf

These assembly sheets have all the pertinent info for building the frames and the boxes.

I'll keep posting progress shots if there is anyone interested. Wayne should have this thing ready for the doors and drawers in the next day and half or so. But we have to do a large install starting Thursday. I think the doors come on the 13th. So hang in there.

Wow, that router really cuts down your time. What does your linear/ft. price end up at if you don't mind me asking? Like Derek said- way too organized.

If I was real cool I would know how to post a video on u-tube. But I'm used to being a disappointment by now.

When you come by we'll let you empty the dust collector if you wear your sexy knee pads

Re: Cabinet Constuction With Pictures Oh Boy

More progress.
I made a template for the curved top rail on that upper above the desk with the cnc.
Cabinet constuction with pictures Oh Boy-template.jpeg
Then clamped it to the frame and flush trimmed it with the router.
Could have been cut on the machine but we only had one piece of cherry wide enough in the shop. Didnt want to risk a blow out.
Cabinet constuction with pictures Oh Boy-cutting-curved-rail.jpeg

This jig has 2 little air driven motors that spin little pilot bits for the Face frame base plates. This only works for overlayed doors. It registers to the top or bottom of the opening. With 1/2" over layed doors we can drill the hinges 4" from the top and bottom of the doors.

Great photo spread Gus, I'm seeing the benefit of that cnc in your shop.
If you let me play with that tool, I promise to empty your bag

Re: Cabinet Constuction With Pictures Oh Boy

We installed that home office today along with laundry room cabinetry.

A few pick up items to take care of in the morning and the job is complete.

Seems to look like the picture I sold them on.

They want us to do the plastic lam tops now so we will be back.

Nothing to this stuff. I'm beat, its time.

That is one of the most awesome tools isn't it?

I have not talked about it here but it sure is a gem.

This machine can do a lot of things but the most common is to drill for and insert hinges in doors.

First you drill the holes. All three in one motion.

Cabinet constuction with pictures Oh Boy-mini-press-drill.jpeg

Then place your hinge on the swing arm thingy in the front.

Cabinet constuction with pictures Oh Boy-mini-press-hinge-.jpeg

Then swing the arm down and that deactivates the drill head and press the button and it stabs the hinge in the holes. Presto Magico

Cabinet constuction with pictures Oh Boy-mini-press-hinge-ready.jpeg

Who figures all this crap out anyway?
