Bosch Digital Mitre Finder

Does anyone have a Bosch Miter Angle Finder. The cost about 140 dollars and was wondering if it works. I saw a trim guy using one once when they first came out about 5 years or so ago. Does it make difficult cuts easier? Or is it just an expensive unnecessary tool.

I have 1 and I like it. Great for doing crown and setting up saws for proper angle.
I bought mine used for $85 on ebay a few years ago.

I've had mine for 4-5 years and like it. I use it frequently. Well-made also.

I've had one for a couple years. I don't use it as much as I thought I was going to but it does get used.

Re: Bosch Digital Mitre Finder

I've had a couple of them since they first came out, they rarely get used any more.

If you cut your crown on the flat they're great for figuring out the saw settings, but I cut pretty much everything nested on the saw (no 10" crown moulding).

I've found this starrett angle finder to be great...and it's much easier to fit in the tool belt. It gives you your miter saw settings for cutting 2 pieces to fit the angle or a single piece.

6" and 12" versions:

Re: Bosch Digital Mitre Finder

i'v had mine a year and although i don't use it alot, i am glad i have it when i need it!

mostly used for finding funny angles and giving me compound miter settings for even stranger things!

the most usefull use was when we were installing this log like siding with mitered outside corners.... normally easy but the bottom 3 coarses were pitched out on a skirt so i had 15 degrees, 10 degrees and 5 degrees (on average) and because everyone wasn't exact, every cut was unique!! what a pain...

Re: Bosch Digital Mitre Finder

I bought one, tried to use it and sold it.
I bought a Starrett, liked it better but, I sold it.

I just use the one that came with my saw, I picked up another one for 20 bucks so I can get multiple corners.

Re: Bosch Digital Mitre Finder

I look like a ninja with one in each hand!!

I like it, it pretty much relies on your lasers though. You find it, set it, line up lasers with the line on the tool.
It way easy. I picked up another one from a guy that had no use for it. I can keep ahead of myself as I go around a room.
I have pretty much stopped coping trim with these and that saw.

If you get 2, mark one with something obvious so you dont mix them up!!

I've had mine for 2 years and use it a lot installing crown. Also found these charts and they work perfect every time! I keep a copy of each in my phone for quick reference.

Re: Bosch Digital Mitre Finder

Why set 2 angles when you can just set one miter?

JF, I have used my ts-55 and my mft/3 table to cut some really wide crown.

Re: Bosch Digital Mitre Finder

I prefer to cut crown flat on the saw table, that's how I leaned to do it, and it works for me.

Re: Bosch Digital Mitre Finder

I use upside down and backwards and 12" dewalt nonslider miter saw(tighter tolerences).

Cutting on the flat must be difficult in older houses or existing built-ins when you have to adjust the spring angle for consistant reveals.

No it will not. Those tables are only for 2 specific spring angles.

Construction Master Pro does this for you. You can enter any spring angle and then enter the angle of the cut you want... 90*, 89* 73* or whatever and it gives you your miter and bevel settings...

I was just using mine yesterday for some 6 7/8" crown with a 42* spring angle....

yeah, and I use a handsaw for all my cuts and hand nail whole houses of trim

t bevel and a speed square are great...unless you've got a need for speed (or have a not quite up to speed helper).

nothing wrong with the t-bevel, it would be nice if everyone knew how to use this method, but like most things, new tools/technology make things simpler/faster, which usually means a project progresses more quickly...and that means more moola in your pocket.

ya dinosaur
