Baseboard To Metal Studs?

I'm running baseboard on a commercial remodel, and the new walls were all framed with metal studs/tracking.

what's the best way to fasten? I don't think my usual 2" finish nails in my little Porter Cable gun will do it.

or will it?

anyone?

Use trim head screws.

Ditto, the finish nails act as clamps until the clue dries.

ET&F makes nail guns specifically for trim carpenters and steel framing, I own two and they work great

That's what we're doing on this job I'm on is brad nails opposing and glue. I'd like to see the gun and nail in action. I know they make framing guns for sheathing. Didn't now about finish nailers though. What about heavy gauge steel?

Re: Baseboard To Metal Studs?

We use them on Structural Steel Framing Studs. Most of our studs are 18 & 20 gauge, occasionally at point load locations you get 12's and 14's, the ET&F gun works down to 16 gauge I believe. If you have a White Cap or ORCO nearby they deal with ET&F or for that matter any tool jobber should be able to get them for you, as a first time purchase get the free case of nails with the gun "Remind" them of the free nail deal, they may "Forget"

Re: Baseboard To Metal Studs?

There are special nails with very sharp points and made of harder metal used for metal studs that work in my normal nail gun(senco), you will get less bent nails, but still use some liquid nail on back side of any trim when installing where there are metal studs. Also you may get lucky and there is some kind of wood backing, happens sometimes.

Trim screws work, but are tedious. Go with the nails and glue method
