Any Advice On Building Interior Doors?

As I've posted here before, my wife & I bought a new to us home last summer that we're in the middle of remodeling. For years, we've been collecting antique architecture & lighting to put in a new home when we build. Since that's not the direction we're now going, we'd still like to use some pieces. We've got several antique etched door glasses that I'd like to build into some interior doors. I've built tons of kitchen cabinet & furniture doors, but never an interior door. I'm fortunate in the fact that the mill I buy my hardwood from is only 30 miles from my new home & they have 3 massively huge kilns & I can get anything I need, from 4/4" all the way to 8/4" & everything in between. Am I better off, laminating my door parts & then facing with 1/4" veneer, or will I be just as well off buying 6/4" stock & jointing it dead flat & planing to final thickness? I just finished ordering 6 piece rail & stile cutters.

Yeah...make sure you have a FLAT surface the build them on. I use two horses with lenghts 1 1/2" angle iron spanning the horses and then a sheet of melamine on top of the iron as a work surface...flat, easy to clean and low friction, also does not bow under weight.

The shop I work with would always go with the 6/4 and run it over the flat bed jointer as step # 1 flat and true is the only way to start a door.
