Which Yard Sign? - Vote -

Designer sent over two versions of my yard signs. They will be 2'x2'. I am leaning towards one of them, but want to see what people think is the better sign.

Re: Which Yard Sign? - Vote -

I voted for number 1, I think it's off the wall enough to not only catch someones eye, but get them to call. When I first started out I was doing low voltage related work and my slogan was "We fix free installations!" I was told by more than half of my clients it was my slogan on the card that got their attention.

I voted 2. I like more subtle.

We got a flyer on the porch yesterday and it said, 'MARRY A PLUMBER!' with a pic of a woman with flowers and a plumber.

Both are good but I voted for number one.

One unsolicited comment: I'm guessing you picked green to go along with your branding/logo etc. but maybe a brighter colour would stand out more. The first things that came to mind was that the logo gets a little lost in the background and that green may not standout on a lawn too well.

Just my $0.02 worth...

The green is actually going to be even darker. It comes across differently on screen, when printed by an ink jet printer, etc... the color is spec'd using Pantone so it will be reproduced consitantly.

Here is a rough of the biz cards, only thing missing will be the BBB logo, still waiting on my membership packet.

Re: Which Yard Sign? - Vote -

Hi Mike. Well, it depends on what you are looking for the signs to do. If you are promoting a short term sale (a promotion of some sort), then I suggest #1. The size of the slogan and its placement suggest a promotion. If you're looking for just a sign for branding, then I suggest the second one.

By the way, I think the business card looks dynamic, yet steadfast. I like it.

Best of luck

If you speacialize in bathrooms, and it sounds like you do, then it's best to put your target market in front and out loud......#1, all the way.

Re: Which Yard Sign? - Vote -

#1 all the way, but I'm on the mental side like Bob-sorry IMO everyting in the world is politically correct and subtle, if you want to stand out-make a statement, right or wrong it will make people remember. I see hundreds of lettered trucks and signs every friggin day, they are all the same boring bull**** IMO. The ones that catch my attentention are the ones that stand out. There were some folks saying my flames on da bus were a bad idea but feedback has been beyond my dreams, folks of all ages/race/color ALL have something to say about it and it has been a great conversation stater more times than not.

Run with #1 Mike or you'll be lost in the crowd like soo many other "pro's"

They are both nice, visually.
The type of market you are after may be offended to be told
that their bathroom has been ugly, up until Mike came along,
to save the day.
It sounds like: " lady, your bathroom is ugly"
You probably put so much thought in to this, you know, your posts about apealing
to the feminine side of your prospects etc.
Hopefuly, you trashed that idea, because it is not coming through.

Just my opinion,
I am sure you have your branding campaign planned.

Very logical thinking... and something I have wrestled with and continue to slide around on almost on a daily basis. The flip side to this and it still blows me away - I've been using that line in my advertising for about 18 months now, and the response it gets is phenomenal! People tell me routinely how effective it is and how much it "speaks" to them, especially women. It is the ultimate problem solving headline. Now where the untested waters are is in the big dollar remodels... question is how will it effect the person who's bathroom isn't so ugly, just not what they want? Part of the reason why #2 appeals more to me. Believe me I have other subtle ways around this. I don't plan on throwing that in every customers face in our marketing, it takes some finesse and it returns huge dividends.

What you are saying George is very logical and I was the first one to agree with you, however, that phrase is a freaken gold mine, hence the reason I trade marked it!!!!!

This is way more than I ever wanted to let on.

That's interesting because I'm of the opinion that women generally aren't as interested in problem solving as men - they just want to be listened to. I'd have thought that a message that inferred your capacity to understand their concerns would be more appealing than one that described the action you take. Maybe it somehow touches on both? I'd say order both and gather response data.
