XX Company Helping The Community

How do you folks feel about a web-page "our company in the community"?

This year we are sponsoring a local road race for diabetes, a school baseball team and donating some money to Avon breast cancer walk.

Would it look wrong if I created a page with some links to the breast cancer and diabetes sites and mentioned that our company donates to these?

BTW, we are donating the money either way.

Re: XX Company Helping The Community

I don't think so. People like to hire service contractors who are invested in their communities. It shows you care and are here to stay.

I do it,

http://www.humbleabodepainting.com/local_painter.html

I am also planning on starting a program this summer, when I have the time. "Featured Monthly Local Charity"

Basically I will have twelve local charities that will get a predetermined percentage of our monthly net sales. I will try to heavily advertise this program and also try to get the charities to advertise it as well.

I think it is the best of both worlds. I will be genuinely helping my community, which I have always wanted to be in a position to do, and getting some business from like minded people. People who, like me, care about their community.

I think its a fine idea... especially since you are doing something.

Keep in mind not to make it a major focus of your site. ou want visitors of your site to take action to you...

no need to advertise that.. advertising is paid media impressions...

the donations are in human & community interest. those are newsworthy qualities, in editors eyes.. provide a press release to local town media whatever it is in your neck of the woods. and no this is not arrogant... a good press release will be printed (its is your responsibility to provide press release)
a great press release will get you interviewed.

charities associate will also do a press release, providng their communication officers are competent.

don't be self concscience,
you would be egocentrical not to create the press release. the goal here is not humility, it is doing everything you can to raise the funds to helps those in need.

this is publicity, as the media & content are free.

I think it is a great idea. I am doing the same thing for a local Church here. Also, I came down with type two Diabetes about 6 years ago, so ride those roads hard. Maybe they can find a remedy to reverse the numbness in feet.

Doug, it's a good idea. We will be doing smething similar with the CCVF: Canadian Crime Victim's Foundation. This is to bring recognition to the community that in many cases, the government looks after criminals far better than the victims of violent crime.
