Re: Where To Advertise? ?

I think times have changed A LOT, it takes a collaborate of things. Direct mail, referrals, online presence PLUS being willing to try new things out like thumbtack and homeadvisor PRO etc btw I also just signed up with them and will see how things pan out. I used to use CL years ago for my hardwood floor refinishing but I steer away now.

My main bread and butter is my commercial cleaning accounts so I have my base income. I am now moving back into carpet cleaning and building disaster recovery services. I am the new and improved servpro. Hey there was already Kmart when Sam Walton started Walmart....

Also, the key is what value do you bring to your customers that your competition doesn't? That is a biggy these days and will spread your name like a wildfire. Our business donates TIME and MONEY to non-profits and also we are creating our own non-profit campaigns and it speaks to local businesses and residents. They want to 'feel good' about where their money is going but they also want to know WHAT they are getting FOR their money. Another words, my business certifies their cleaning employees. So we have 'cleaning technicians' who are drugfree and come with full criminal free background checks. Every employee goes through OSHA approved building safety training and examination...try that one from my big brand competition....HA you won't find that anywhere

Find your lingo, stand out....make it stick in your customers heads, find a non-profit you believe in....find a few bucks you will donate if they go with your service and then watch your phones go BAZZERK....

Re: Where To Advertise? ?

I know this is an older post, but I don't know if you got enough of an answer. In 2016, search engines are king when it comes to customer visibility for your business. Google, Bing, and Yahoo are the big three when it comes to search engines, and really the only ones you should focus on. The earlier responses of getting on Yelp, getting on Facebook, Google MyBusiness, Bing Local should really help you get a boost in your visibility.
If you want to pay for ads, I highly recommend doing google adwords, bing adwords, and facebook ads if you want to hit the markets that are going to get you better results than yelp other directories where people put their business. Search engines make their money of their adword campaigns, and if they aren't doing a good job of that, businesses wouldn't pay them.
But one of the smartest things you could do is have a website built for you that is mobile friendly. People are always on their cellphones now, and most of businesses is started on their since nowadays we can look up a business on the go instead of having to get on the computer. My marketing guy built me up a website poolserviceswalnutcreek.com that I'm very happy with because it looks good on my phone compared to the other guys in the area who do not have mobile friendly websites. It's only been up a month, but combined with the google adwords that I am paying for and the job that he's done, my business has 25% more revenue coming in this month than it did at this time last year, and this is my busy season!
The internet is the place to be man, good luck

Look for a CL template and make one, it takes an hour. Then you just copy paste code every morning.

If you do multiple things, siding, roofing, ect, make a few templates.
I just tried this using Use.com, image adder.com, classified wizard.net, mycraigslistadmaker.com--every one of these services didn't work. They don't show the images once the HTML is pasted into the body of the ad. Is there one you're using that shows the images you post into the template?

Facebook, Google+, Twitter, your website, Yello Pages, Home Advisor, flyers - ready-cut door hangers; print your company name on your vehicle and advertise it while driving; park it at high traffic places during weekends so many people can see it; network with neighbors, local communities, and clubs. Ask for reviews on Google and respond to them regularly.

Re: Where To Advertise? ?

Another low cost strategy is, to figure out a subtle way to get on peoples phone contact list. In your case, save as Electrician John. If one cab get in, on the cellie, you are halfway there.

I know the search engine strategy is the way of this era. But, everybody is doing that now. One needs to do something outside of the box to stand out, in a time where there is more supply than demand.
