Did you get a discount on your yellow page ad for putting that logo (phonebook) on the back of your van?

No discount. The sticker say's "find us in" the yellow pages. My thinking was if someone could not write the number down, they would know that they could just look us up in the phonebook's yellow pages.

Your vehicle is a moving information board about your company. When I'm driving from job to job, I try to travell through the busiest places in my city. I say, for every person who sees our logo and name, that's great becaus it implants us in their minds for later on.

Have A Party!

If you are a supplier do a mailer and invite them to your place of business for a cook out.

Have drawings and have your manufactures there to help support you.

Make it fun and no real selling just kind of a meet and greet type thing.

We also do lunch and learn type party's. There's a million ways to do this. Just do it!! Good luck

depending on your type of business..... Yard signs! create eye catching yard signs, put them out for about a week at the location where you've worked. They will become recognizable before too long.

testimonials on the website, craigslist, yahoo local, yahoo business directory, angieslist, and consider going on to homeowner focused forums and being helpful and knowledgeable. Other ways you could consider would be marketing to real estate brokers, providing free content to the local paper as a handyman question column. I have tons of ideas that have worked well if you need/want more.

Rob a bank and be sure to get caught. The newspapers will pick it up and your business will get lots of press.

Word of mouth is the most effective, lowest cost, and greatest foundation for all marketing efforts.
If your service sucks and people know it, you won't be in business to make big $$. You will have to spend more money changing peoples mind about calling you, instead of being their first choice.
