What Is A Fair Fee To Pay For Work?
I have done work for an interior decorator in her personal home. She loved the work and was under budget. She is bringing us in to do work for her clients. We are not billing thought her business. We are charging our own rates and being paid direct. The question is how much should we kick back for her services. 1%, 2% or maybe up to 5%? She is telling her clients we are the best for work / price. She is doing the work that we sometimes don’t get paid for anyway. With work a little slow this could work out great. We still do work that we generate our self.

I give a 5% finders fee for this type of referral (professional relationship). If you keep her happy, she will bring a lot of work your way. Those jobs will lead to other referrals which you won't be paying for. These will be the best advertising dollars that you spend.

Re: What Is A Fair Fee To Pay For Work?
If all shei is doing is handing your card to a new client then 3%. If she is going to be the go between between you and the client Then 5-10%, the bigger the job the less the markup. By go between I mean all you are doing is measuring, building and installing. She does the rest, designing and dealing with the client. All you do for the client [besides your work] is nod and say have a nice day, good morning and good night.

We do 5% up to $200 maximum.
It is an add on to the price, it doesn't affect our pricing. We do this with 2 designers and 3 colour consultants.
