What Is The Best Method For Tracking Street-town-geography, When Canvassing?

There must be a better way than just printing out maps and marking them up with pens and markers where you have been, and when to go back!

Any help is apperciated!

Thanks!

GPS unit with tracking or "bread crumbs", then transfer it to your computer if you want a printout. Although printing out a map and marking it doesn't seem all that bad.

Going off that, there are ways to import your GPS tracking files into Google Maps online.

A lot of cellphones today have this technology built in. Most is not user applied but Government applied. Some, such as the Blackberry have a program that you can use. Nextel as well.

I have a map that is 8' x 10' on a wall in my office, shows every street in my area. It's laminated so i can write on it with dry erase markers. cost about $400

If you know anyone in your area who worked on a political campaign, particularly as a canvasser or organizer, ask them what they used: they are often masters at canvassing and recording where they have been. Some have systems that are bound to suit your local situation and may even have leftover maps and other stuff you can borrow - until the next election.
