Website - Should I Leave My Picture?

Hey guys and gals. I need some help. I have a picture of myself on the fron t page of my website. I've always read that it helps with trust. My girlfriend says that I look like a criminal and a bit scary. What do you think? Should I leave it? Should I get a better picture? Should I just get rid of it?

tulsapaintcontractor.com

Thanks
Marty

Hell, man, you could at least smile! You look like you're ready to kick their ass if they don't go with your bid!

I never understood why real estate agents put their picture on every piece of marketing literature, yard sign, etc, that they send out. Who relaly cares?

If I were a consumer I'd be more thrilled with a shot of a beautiful interior or exterior on some very upscale building that you did.

If you do intend to leave your photo on the site, get it professional done by a professional photography, like glamour shots or something.

BTW your site does not load without the www. infront of it, you might want to fix that.

If you decide to continue to use that photo, I would make sure the audience can see the card that you are supposed to be holding with your arrest number on it.

Very nice site, by the way. I wish I would have gotten to this thread in time to see the "mugshot."

Ya snooze ya lose, I guess.

Anyway, good job on having a call to action on each page!

Your Testimonials Page and your Why Choose Us Page are nearly identical.

Other than the submit button on someone seeking emplyment, being half way hidden and buried by the bottom of the page, the site looked nice.

How does that Woofu Form Buider work out for you?

By the way, did you do the site yourself?

Because, the Rocket Theme in Joomla style is very familiar to the person/company who "Was Supposed To be Building" my site?

Re: Website - Should I Leave My Picture?

Thanks for the advice guys.. I removed the offending picture and replaced it with a bit better one.

Ed:

Yeah, I built that site myself. Still working on it obviously..
Also, Wufoo works for what it is... I HATE building forms so I just used their free service.. My next project is to build my own forms and have them send directly to me. Sometimes Wufoo doesn't notify you when you get a new form subscription.

How hard was it for you to do?

What previous experience did you have?

My guy/company has fell off the planet and that is the same set-up they have me started on, but it has not been finished.

At the beginning of August, they said, once again, that I was next and it would only be a matter of days, which is now over a month again with no contact.

I really would prefer that they just were truthful about the timetable instead of letting me linger and anguish over the time. I can understand being over-booked and the necessity of additional time required.

What do I have to learn, if I have to jump in?

Thanks,

Ed

Hey Ed,
If you don't have any web development experience the learning curve can be a bit steep.. Though it pretty simple once you learn the basics of joomla. I did a search for your site and think I found it. It looks like the front page is nearly completed, but the rest of the site is not. You should be able to finish it up pretty easily if you have to do it yourself. If you need any help let me know. I'll be happy to help out if I can.

Re: Website - Should I Leave My Picture?

Ed, I know what you mean. It took them a long time to build my site. Its has done very well, but as you I wish they were truthful about the timetable as well.

I was going to have them build me a different site for a different business that I am going to start, but I think I might take a pass on them and find someone else. I just dont know yet.

Things I have asked them to fix on my site never have been fixed. They started out as a small company (I believe) and word got out they were good, then they got slammed with work and now I dont know whats going on with them.

I specifically avoided naming who they are, since I still have faith in what will eventually come to pass and I have been in business for nearly 25 years without one, so a short time delay is not critical for me. But, these time frames should be communicated with their clients. I would not be pizzed off, but without the communication, it leaves me hanging wondering what I might need to do next.

I still believe that they will provide more than an admirable and beneficial site for me that will assist in bringing results.

Ed, if they don't take care of you, let me know, and I'll design and host your site for you for free....

....as long as you agree to put your offer and your call to action on every single page!

PM me if you get fed up and decide you want to talk. Otherwise, good luck to you my friend.
