Website And Keywords

I was doing a search to see how I ranked and just typed in " Roof Repairs.Richmond,Va."

I also got this site. Looks like he did good at getting his content and keywords to match.

Re: Website And Keywords

Here is his exact keyword layout;

richmond va repair, richmond repair, richmond virginia repair, richmond home repair, screen repair, exterior repair, drywall repair, electric repair, floor repair, window repair, door hinge repair, concrete crack repair, concrete slab repair, door repair, interior repair, wood repair, midlothian repair, flooring repair, garage door repair, hardwood floor repair, paint repair, repairman, roof repair, roof repairs, siding repair, midlothian va repair, midlothian virginia home repair

Strangly enough you can also see them at the top of the page, they actually should not be showing on the page content.

Why should they not be showing?

This is a craigs list add, chances are he just put them in there for spam. "Burying" key words on your website like this will actually get you black balled in search engines. it is a form of spam.

In trying to sell my condo I found that by putting the names of near-by cities it increased my call backs incredibly. If someone searched for "glenview apartment for sale" I'd pop up, but if they searched for "skokie condo for sale" I would not, even though I am a short 3 minute drive from skokie. Now I have a line saying "Near by Skokie, Wilmette, Northbrook, etc...."

Re: Website And Keywords

It will get you "black balled".
That's why he did it on Craigslist. Smart idea on his part.
He is at the top of SERP.

Re: Website And Keywords

Grumpy,

Key words usually go in the meta tag section of the html code on your web page. These words should mirror words your using in the content of your page. A good combination of content and key words will help your site get a higher position in web search results.

Spamming your keywords like I posted eariler will get your site black balled by the search engine and the spiders won't index the site any longer.

Re: Website And Keywords

The "keywords" meta tag is almost zero relevance as far as SERPs are concerned.
The keywords in your page content have a far greater impact.

Now your title tag (being different on each page) and your page description tag have a lot of importance, but I wouldn't go too keyword heavy.

Re: Website And Keywords

The search engines are not going to black ball his craigslist ad. If they do he can make another one and be right back at the top.

Just did a craigslist ad after reading these posts. Put my keywords, website link, phone number and am using the CL email response.

www . widexl. com / remote / search-engines /metatag-analyzer . html

Sorry it has wierd spaces but I cant post links until I have 15 posts, sorry Nathan. But this is a great resource to test your site description and keywords. It gives you analysis of what search engine bots see when they run through your site.

Re: Website And Keywords

CL will only provide temporary results on SERPS, invest in a simple site with some good on page optimization and you will have a permanent spot at the top.

Re: Website And Keywords

Craigslist is a great source of traffic if you post a new ad every month. I also find kijiji and hoobly are good too. Hoobly.com has the advantage that you can set your ad to run for several years !

While Hoobly and Kijiji dont have the high profile that Craigslist does, they are certainly valuable sources of free traffic.

The only problem with all of these sources is that they all use the "robots:no follow" meta tag which effectively prevents your website from benefiting from a high page rank backlink from these sites. Nothing wrong with the free traffic they provide though.

Posting blog comments in highly regarded blogs related to your industry is one alternative that can provide great backlinks and free traffic.

But overall, theres few better options than craigslist for getting free PRand advertising for your business.
