does anyone else have this problem with my site? I have never heard of anyone having this issue with it and I can't replicate it for the life of me.

I know, I have tried every color of text and every one is hard to read over that banner. I am going to have to come up with something else there.

I still have alot of pictures to resize and alot of text to add in various places.

If you use photoshop try doing a blending mode on the text, and either a "stroke" or "outer glow" aroudn the text to make it stand out.

Someone like Lawndart could come in here and put me to shame, but here is what I meant.

Not having the link clickable keeps out the spam. I do agree with some of the text needing to be changed, Im no longer a partnership either so theres plenty of stuff to be removed, and I have about 5 new projects to load on. Thanks for the feedback though.

Thanks, both of those look way better than what I have. I will change my banner soon.

I built the site using a template and currently the banner and text over it are two seperate entities, I have just been too lazy to merge them together with an image editing program. The template design I am using now limits the way I can add text over my banner.

I like your site, it's easy to read and naviagate. The major downfall I see is the lack of pictures.

The first thing I notice is the page is a little slow loading. Your images are all png type and a large file size, here is the image from your homepage, it's 223KB, below it is your image converted to a jpg, it's 37KB, almost 200KB less, All four of the house images add up to 351 KB, they would be 57KB in jpg format, almost 300KB, the page will load a lot faster with jpgs, plus some browsers have problems with png files. I would only use them when you need the transparency they offer. If all your gallery images are the same I would convert them to jpg's as well.

Creativehomeimp, I like the overall feel of your site. Your site is esy on the eyes and easy to read but the pages took longer to load than I would like.

MickeyCo. beat me to it

Re: Website Features,ideas, And Input

I just made this the other night. It obv needs work. I haven't been good about taking pictures so i have to go back and take some. I have to wait until the snow melts though. I have some on film that I need to have scanned and fixed up and a couple jobs but I want to put them all up at once rather than just have a few.

I'm on the board though! Something I've been meaning to do for a long time.

Super slow! Your site is still loading as I write this.
I will not state the obvious as I am sure you know you need to add alot of info but it will not do any good if you do not fix the load time.

I tried working on one of these for a friend the other night. Along with slow load, it can't be optimized.
Main thing is, you're on the board! Your name is now out there. I've transfer the domain to somewhere with real hosting after you get something like CoffeeCup and rebuild the site with some SEO capabilities. You won't be offline long enough to know the difference during the transfer.
You won't be able to transfer the actual site, but that's a plus.

Thanks. The slow to load thing isn't like that all the time. I just clicked it now, and it was up in less than a second. The other night it wasn't lagging either.

I've read your posts mentioning SEO a lot and have to research what that is. Of course money is tight now, so I'm going to try and do my own web stuff at least for now.

Re: Website Features,ideas, And Input

My friend said it was free for 3 months, then $10.00 per month. A transfer is $7.49 and hosting is $3.99 per month. CoffeeCup is $49. Add that up over a year, and if you're planning on staying around, multiply it.

When money was tigth, my site had GD ad on top and still pulled in many clients and the PR2-3. It fluctuates.
