Website Critique

Hi everyone! Haven't posted for a while, but Happy New Year to all!!

Finally got a website up, well almost, still needs pics up and stuff.
I'm entering the black hole of SEO...and how to use metatags, keywords, etc. Been racking my brain....I see I have a score of like 17% and basically nobody in the universe can find me if they would search for bathroom or kitchen remodeling in my area.

So, trying to get stuff going on my own and I can always use some tips....since this optimization seems to be limited to its own language. I've ordered some books, hopefully I can make sense of all this.

Thanks!
Sevi

Glad to see you are still around - Looks nice & clean

Quick problem areas
Big white blank spot - top right corner
Something is trying to load which is slow - is it the Big white box in right corner?
Services - sub items?
No Portfolio
Page doesn't load properly on Contact us
Footnote links don't work

Nice new logo

I would like to know when the website first was published live?

Re: Website Critique

As you add more and more content and as time goes by no matter what you do it will be findable, as long as you have a lot of it and it is original. By giving your website some serious seo work it will get there even faster but still needs to have all the content.

Once you have content, keywords, site maps, and Google web tools you could be up on top of a few search phrases for Google in your area with in probably 2 weeks, Google local is a good place to set up shop also, and its free along with the webmaster tools if you dont use them already.

Re: Website Critique

If there wasn't a link on their page - google Sitemaker creator
If your with Go Daddy, or someone else is hosting your site, they generally have an option for creating one (GD does)

FYI - change your sig to South Florida Kitchen Remodeling or some other keywords & add the site in your profile

Run a search here on SEO - there have been quite a few discussions on it lately

Re: Website Critique

I have learned a lot about seo by searching this very forum over the past year or two my self as a lurker, so I highly recommend seeing what all was asked and said in all the threads here if I were you. There are plenty of diamonds laying in this rough.

Here is a free tool to create a sitemap. Download the file it generates and then upload the xml file to the root of your web server.

Re: Website Critique

The site looks great! With one drawback, I'm having a hard time reading it. Make the letters appear more larger and darken or lighten the letters. Other than that, nice and clean!!!

Re: Website Critique

CornerstoneGC,

You have an attractive template design. I like the textured backgrounds. And the color scheme is smooth.
Your page works. I know what it is you do. And you are conveying your message well.

As far as your rankings in search engines...
your site is sill in infancy, patience is the key to Search Engine Marketing. These SEO "experts" will tell you about links, and meta tags, and <h1><h2> headings, yadda yadda doobie. Really, the search engines algorithms change so much that what you are hearing was aparent years ago.
I would work more, now, on getting your site completed, than to get it ranked high. An unfinished website with a #1 rank will have a higher bounce rate than a second page website that is well structured, easy to navigate, infromative, provides a benefit or some kind of tool.

While you are working on getting your website completed, research your target market. Who and where are they? Get face to face with them and let them know how you can help. Send them to your website to gain more information and see the quality of your work.

good luck

Re: Website Critique

Thank you for all your help. I will search on past threads as I know I can learn so much from them and will try to get the site up and finished this week.
Glad you think it looks decent, I agree about the font that it's a little hard to read....will make it black to stand out more..

It's a great simple tool.

I love good free software. A lot of times the free stuff is better, especially if have some technology sense and don't need the support.

Re: Website Critique

Congratulations on getting your site up. Yes, we can see there is still much to be done, but that's the great thing about a web site. You can fix it in real time. You don't have 10,000 of them printed, sitting in your garage with a typo in the phone number! Don't worry that it's not perfect--worry that it's not up! Keep going!

Craig

P.S. Your logo still needs help. To use a recently famous phrase, "you just put lipstick on a pig."

Re: Website Critique

looks like a great design to me, matches your business style.

A SEO tip, make sure you vary the text on your pages on the bottom (where you list cities) google may penalize you for duplicate content on pages, in this case the cities.

Re: Website Critique

Where's your "Opt-in" Box? I want more information about WIIFM???

As a Consumer, I couldn't care less what you do; I want you to convince me to do business.

I'm not being "harsh". It's just that you've asked and I've given.

Before starting my "real world" business, I did - and still do - Internet Marketing. I've seen thousands, if not millions of small business "websites" that were suckered into believing, "Put up a website and they will come" (No, I'm not saying YOU were suckered, nor anyone else for that matter). What I'm trying to convey is this: A web presence is a must in today's market, but you must somehow differentiate via a strong USP/EVP, or frankly, your website will simply become another piece of electronic real estate that will bleed you dry eventually.
