Re: Web Site Question

Websites do generate leads, most deffinitely. It's probably best to have a pro do it, but if you're like me and don't want to pay for it right away, but don't want to wait either, you can do it yourself. There is a TON to learn though to have an effective website that produces. That reason alone makes it beneficial to hire a pro.

Re: Web Site Question

Flying,

First off, welcome to the forum from a fellow Canadian!

I set my website up through www.webcentre.ca. The price is pretty reasonable and their pre-formatted sites worked for what I needed for my company.

Others will probably chime in and give you their opinions. There certainly is NO shortage of opinions in this forum.
As far as gettinga web company to do it for you, that all depends on how much content, etc. that you have and what you want to do

Re: Web Site Question

Try searching out your local Barter Exchange, we belong to one in Fl. and we painted a few houses and built up our acct. Eventually we spent 10K on our site which included placement on search engines, thats what generates the leads.

Re: Web Site Question

DecksEtc. your web page is set up great and seems to convey the message well. I would be looking to build something of this layout.

Decks, fences, etc seems to be a big contracting trend lately. we have a few companies similar to yours around here in halifax too. is business good in this area?

Re: Web Site Question

I just used their pre-formatted pages and inserted my own pictures and text. It wasn't overly difficult. They actually have a few "painting company" based formats you can select from - again, the choice is up to you.

Business was pretty good this year. I was completely booked all season. I just started my biggest job of the year last week. And, I have 2 more booked after I finish this one.

Personally, I try to stay away from the standard, run-of-the-mill fences as there is very little profit in them. There are too many fence companies around that do the standard board-on-board fences for real cheap.

Re: Web Site Question

i love the custom fences with the copper caps on the top of the posts. cheap fences serve for their price but it is easy to tell when you have paid a pro to make something that looks awesome and lasts forever.
